Southern Gear Helps Florida International University Students Race to the Finish!

Southern Gear is proud, once again, to be a sponsor of the Florida International University’s Panther Motorsports team. This Formula SAE
(Society of Automotive Engineers) race team is an engineering organization that designs and builds a Formula One style race car. Each year, Panther
Motorsports competes with over 130 universities from around the world in the annual Student Collegiate Design series in Michigan. FIU’s Panther
Motorsports helps students learn and practice real world engineering and manufacturing skills that can be applied directly into not only the
automotive industry, but any mechanical engineering project. At the most recent competition in May, the Panther team was ranked the number one school
in Florida and number 44 overall! “Southern Gear’s parts are the key to much of our success,” said Ignacio Hernandez, President of FIU SAE.
“Southern Gear’s support enabled last year’s success at the Formula SAE Michigan, where moved up from a 96th place finish the year before, to a 44th
place finish, and first in the state of Florida.”
