Southern Gear provides the ideal combination of skilled, experienced personnel and cutting-edge technology to produce precision gears, on-time and on-budget.  Our engineers and machinists have an average of 26 years of experience, and our employees have been with the company an average of 17 years.

From design and prototype to completion and assembly, our engineers and machinists have done it all.  Their knowledge and expertise are important resources that benefit our customers in all phases of the job- from solving potential design or machining issues prior to manufacture, to production and delivery of parts that exceed customers’ expectations.

Southern Gear invests nearly one million dollars a year in new machinery, filling our shop floor with the state-of-the-art equipment in order to continuously improve our products, quality, cost and delivery.  Unlike some gear companies, Southern Gear is equipped to handle all gear-making operations in-house including turning, milling, grinding, and gear cutting/grinding.  The benefit to our customers is that their parts are produced in our plant, under our control, and under our AS9100 D, ISO 9001:2015 certified quality systems.

Additionally, Southern Gear practices Lean Manufacturing, coupled with a proprietary scheduling software, to ensure efficient production with little-to-no down time.
